Most of us around the globe keep worrying about our skincare routines. We usually seek recommendation from our dear ones for our daily skin problems ranging from pimples to tanning. But most techniques do not produce any effective result, although they might have brought wondrous results to the advisor. This is because we do not pay attention to our skin type before following tips or using cosmetics. Different skin types require a different type of care. Normally there are four types of skin (who face issues) based on the genetic composition of the person – oily, dry, combination and sensitive. All of them require different solutions to different problems. A detailed recommendation is given below.

  • OILY SKIN: Does your skin get naturally moisturized with sebum all day? And do you suffer from pimples often? Well, these are symptoms that your skin belongs to the oily type. Oily skin refers to the increased production of skin oil or sebum. This may include large pores, excessive pimples, acne, rashes and blackheads or dull skin at times.  Skin becomes oily due to a lot of reasons. These may include climate, hormonal changes, unhealthy diet, stress or sometimes using the wrong skin care product. For people suffering from oily skin, mornings are a nightmare since you wake up to an oilfield on your face, especially near the T-zone. It is recommended to use a foaming face wash in the morning to get rid of the oil on your face. Facewash can be done thrice a day if the skin is too oily, especially before going to sleep. It is advisable to use a mild scrub in order to clear off the blocked pores. After scrubbing, it is recommended to leave the skin to breathe before applying some rose water, which makes the skin soft and supple. It is advisable not to use heavy oily makeup as these can only ruin your skin even more. Besides, no oil-based product should be used. It is obligatory to consume lots of water and juicy fruits in order to keep the body hydrated and replenish the skin from within. Stress should also be kept at bay, as it leads to an increase in cortisol level in the blood, a hormone that increases the secretion of sebum responsible for oily skin.
  • DRY SKIN: Dry skin produces a comparatively low level of sebum and oil than normal skin. It has less moisture and may be rough, scaly and itchy at times. Dry skin is caused due to climatic changes, genetic reasons, sun exposure or hormonal effects. It may also be caused due to excessive washing and scrubbing the skin which leads to loss of skin oil and moisture. For people with dry skin, the most important tip is to moisturize your skin with a good moisturizer twice daily. Excessive face washing and scrubbing should be prevented as this may remove the necessary moisture from the skin. Gel-based face wash and bathing products should be used. Besides, long hot showers should be prevented as they de-moisturize the skin faster than cold showers. Lots of water should be consumed in order to keep the skin well hydrated and promote stable production of natural oil.
  • SENSITIVE SKIN: People with sensitive skin type definitely go through a whole lot of struggles. It may last for some days or a lifetime. Sensitive skin is prone to the advent of innumerable skin issues, allergies and irritations. The skin gets affected too easily by cosmetics or particular diets. It is tough for even the person to know how his/her skin will react to any cosmetic of product. It may result in rashes, allergy, pimples or acne. Sensitive skin can be caused due to a whole lot of underlying problems like hormonal issues, chemical reaction due to cosmetics, seasonal changes, bacterial infection and genetic reasons. People with sensitive skin type are advised to check their skincare products thoroughly before applying. It is recommended to apply a small amount of the product on the back of the palm in order to check the skin’s reaction. Cleansing the skin of impurities is extremely necessary. It is advised to use mild products and cool face packs. Limiting the time in the sun is helpful, besides the compulsory application of a gentle moisturizer and a nice warm bath once a day.
  • COMBINATION SKIN: Most people nowadays have combination skin, with oily parts in some places and dry regions in the others. The T-zone of the face is especially oily due to enlarged pores and high sebum secretion. This makes the region relatively dark. This mainly happens due to pollution, climatic or hormonal changes. Combination of skin should be dealt with care. Mild products are advisable which do not harm any areas of the body. Cleansing the skin is obligatory as dust particles and impurities block the pores of the skin, not allowing it to breathe. Besides, a moisturizer is compulsory in order to maintain the health of the skin. Sunscreen should be applied before stepping out in the sun in order to prevent tanning and pigmentation.
