  • Sunflower Seed Oil

Ceramides are a very special type of fat which is produced in our body. This fat forms a skin barrier which provides protection against infections during an eczematic flare. Oil extracted from the seeds of a sunflower plant stimulates the producers of this fat to produce more ceramide. Sunflower seed oil is enriched with prostaglandins (inflammatory modulator) and linoleic acid (precursor of arachidonic acid). These contents help in garnering an anti-inflammatory effect coupled with a skin barrier replenishing effect. Sunflower oil can be incorporated easily into your daily skin moisturizing routine. Cold pressed and organic sunflower seed oil is the best option. Cold treatment ensures that all the nutrients are quarantined into the oil. These are generally lost when the oils are processed at higher temperatures. After soaking in a lukewarm water bath for a period of 15 minutes, apply the sunflower oil while the skin is wet (in an interval of 3 minutes). This ensures the easy absorption of the oil through the pores of the skin.
