What is Cadiwin 500 mg

Cadiwin 500 mg Tablet is a prescription medicine used for bacterial infections of the urinary tract, ear, nose, throat (ENT), skin, soft tissues, and lungs. It is also approved for the treatment of selected cases of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), Prostatitis and Typhoid fever. Containing Ciprofloxacin 500 mg, it is manufactured by Cadila Pharmaceuticals Ltd in WHO-GMP-certified facilities.

Belonging to the Fluoroquinolone antibiotic drug class, Ciprofloxacin inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV. These enzymes are needed for bacterial DNA repair and cell division. As a result, it stops bacteria from multiplying and helps clear the infection.

Cadiwin 500 mg is usually taken once daily, preferably at a fixed time. Take for as long as prescribed for complete clearance of the infection. You can take it with food if it causes stomach discomfort, but avoid dairy products for better absorption. If a dose is missed, take it when you remember. But skip it if it is almost time for the next dose.

Common side effects include headache, dizziness, nausea and stomach discomfort. Diarrhea can occur during treatment, but usually resolves after the course ends. You can, however, take oral rehydration fluids and probiotics if advised. Inform your doctor if stools become watery or bloody, or if facial swelling or breathing difficulty develops.

According to the FDA box warning, Levofloxacin tablets can affect tendons (connective tissues that attach muscles to bones), cause damage to peripheral nerves and the Central Nervous System. Stop the medicine and seek medical advice if you develop tendon pain, swelling, numbness or tingling. Extra caution is also advised in people with kidney disease, Myasthenia Gravis, heart rhythm problems, or an allergy to Fluoroquinolone antibiotics.

Store Cadiwin tablets below 30°C in a cool, dry place away from moisture and sunlight. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
