Shipping Update: U.S. Tariff Changes on Pharmaceuticals
The U.S. government recently revised its import tariff policies. On August 29, 2025, an additional tariff was announced on branded and patented pharmaceutical products imported into the country.
The U.S. “De Minimis” rule previously allowed low-value shipments to enter the country without duty. Due to policy changes in 2025:
- Many products, including pharmaceuticals, no longer qualify for De Minimis exemptions.
- Duty-free entry is restricted for certain categories regardless of parcel value.
- Controlled or regulated goods, such as medications or pharmaceutical preparations, are now routinely assessed for duty upon import.
These changes directly impact international businesses like ours, as every package shipped to the U.S. is now subject to higher clearance and handling costs.
You can read the official announcement here.
How This Affects Shipping
When tariff rates increase, the overall cost of moving regulated goods across borders rises significantly. For pharmaceutical shipments, the updated U.S. regulations affect several areas:
1. Import Duty
The newly imposed 100% tariff effectively doubles the import duty impact on affected pharmaceutical products. These tariff obligations must be settled before a shipment can clear U.S. customs.
2. Carrier and Logistics Charges
Freight and courier partners adjust their fees to account for increased import expenses, higher insurance exposure, and additional compliance requirements.
3. Compliance and Documentation Costs
Pharmaceutical imports face stricter checks, updated paperwork standards, and extended customs screening procedures. These add time, administrative effort, and associated handling fees.
These combined factors have increased the structural cost of shipping pharmaceutical products into the United States.
Our Adjustment to Shipping Fees
To maintain transparent, predictable pricing, we have updated our U.S. shipping fee:
- Previous Shipping Fee: $20
- New Shipping Fee: $25
This single fee covers the packaging, shipping and import duty levied on the shipments. No additional payment is required at delivery.
Also note that this tariff-driven change applies only to customers in the United States.
Other Than the U.S.
For customers outside the U.S., shipping fees and import duty treatment may vary based on each country’s local regulations and import duty policies.
Your shipping charges will continue to be displayed accurately at checkout according to your delivery country.
Our Commitment to Transparency
We believe in transparency and fairness. Instead of making hidden price changes or compromising on service quality, we want you to know exactly why shipping rates are different.
Even after this update:
- We are constantly streamlining our operations to reduce unnecessary costs.
- We have absorbed as much of the increase as possible to keep the change minimal.
- We do not add profit margins on tariffs — this increase is entirely cost-based.
- Your order will still be shipped with the same speed, safety, and reliability as before.
NOTE: Tariff rules are set by the U.S. government and may change again in the future. If that happens, we’ll keep you updated so you always know the reason behind any shipping adjustments.
