Tido Tablet is a prescription antibiotic combination therapy used to treat mixed bacterial and protozoal infections. It is most helpful in infections involving the gut, respiratory tract or genitourinary system. Tido contains two FDA-approved antibiotics, Doxycycline 100 mg and Tinidazole 600 mg. It is manufactured by Eskag Pharma Pvt. Ltd. in WHO-GMP-certified facilities.
Doxycycline is a broad-spectrum tetracycline antibiotic that prevents bacteria from growing and multiplying. Tinidazole is an antiprotozoal and anaerobic antibacterial agent that damages microbial DNA. This leads to the death of both susceptible bacteria and protozoa. Together, this dual-antibiotic combination offers wide coverage against mixed infections.
Tido Tablet is commonly prescribed when a single antibiotic may not be sufficient, such as for Pneumonia, Bronchitis, intestinal infections, dental infections or Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs). It is intended for use by adults and adolescents aged 12 and above under medical supervision.
Tido Tablet is a once-daily dose to be swallowed with a full glass of water. You can take it with or without food. Since it may cause slight irritation in the food pipe, it is best not to lie down immediately after taking the tablet. Additionally, avoid alcohol and dairy products to minimise the risk of gastrointestinal side effects.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible. If it is close to the next scheduled dose, skip it. Do not double up, as an overdose can cause severe vomiting, dizziness, or neurological effects that require immediate medical attention. Caution is advised in patients with kidney or liver diseases and women who are pregnant or breastfeeding to prevent adverse reactions.
Always complete the full course of treatment, even if symptoms improve early, to prevent recurrence of infections. Store Tido Tablet at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct sunlight. Keep it out of reach of children.
Tido Doxycycline Tinidazole Tablet is a broad-spectrum antibiotic and antiprotozoal formulation. Its key benefits and uses include:
Take Tido bacterial infection combo tablet exactly as prescribed by your doctor. General instructions, however, include:

Most side effects of active ingredients in Tido are mild and temporary. Commonly reported ones include:
Seek immediate medical attention if you experience severe allergic reactions, persistent Diarrhea, numbness, seizures, or yellowing of the skin or eyes.
Liver Disease
Patients with pre-existing liver conditions should use this antibiotic combination with caution, as Tinidazole is metabolized in the liver. Dose adjustment or monitoring may be required.
Kidney Impairment
Generally safe in mild to moderate kidney disease, but reduced doses or extended dosing intervals may be required to prevent accumulation in Chronic Kidney Failure.
Pregnant and Breastfeeding women
Tido Tablet is not recommended during pregnancy, as animal studies show fetal risk. It should be used cautiously during breastfeeding, as Tinidazole may cause exposure to the infant. Since Tido may affect fertility, tell your doctor if you are planning to conceive before using it.
Avoid
Do not take Tido tablets if you are allergic to Doxycycline or Tinidazole. Avoid alcohol during treatment and for at least 72 hours after the last dose, as Tinidazole may trigger flushing, cramps, nausea, or vomiting. Avoid milk and dairy close to your dose, as calcium can interfere with Doxycycline absorption. Limit sun exposure as Tido can cause photosensitivity.
Doxycycline in Tido kills susceptible Gonorrhea strains by inhibiting bacterial protein generation, while Tinidazole in Tido eliminates coexisting protozoal infections. However, according to the current CDC guidelines, Gonorrhoea patients require therapy with Ceftriaxone due to widespread resistance to tetracyclines in the United States.
You should take Tido as a single dose with water for the full duration as prescribed. Ideally, take it on an empty stomach or after a light meal and drink plenty of fluids to manage side effects like Diarrhea, vomiting and stomach pain.
Tido clears susceptible bacterial infections within 48-72 hours after a single dose. Improvement in symptoms is often seen within 2 to 3 days, but complete bacterial clearance usually requires 5 to 14 days.
No, you should not drink milk or take any dairy products within 2 hours before or after Tido tablets. Calcium in milk binds Doxycycline in the stomach, drastically reducing its absorption and making the treatment less effective.
Common side effects of Tido tablets include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, Diarrhea, metallic taste in the mouth, along with photosensitivity from Doxycycline. Serious but rare adverse effects involve severe allergic reactions or neurological effects from Tinidazole. Seek medical help if severe or persistent symptoms occur.
You cannot and should not drink alcohol while taking Tido tablets and for 72 hours after the last dose. This is because alcohol interacts with the antibiotics in Tido and can worsen gastrointestinal symptoms like nausea, vomiting and flushing.
Yes, Tido tablets cause photosensitivity due to their ingredient, Doxycycline, making sunburn and rashes more likely. During and 5 days post-treatment, make sure to use broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 50 or higher), wear protective clothing, and avoid direct sunlight.
No, you cannot stop taking Tido tablets when you begin to feel better, as stopping early may allow surviving bacteria to multiply and cause relapse or resistance. You must always complete the full antibiotic course as prescribed.
No, Tido Tablet is not recommended for children under 12 years old, as safety and effectiveness have not been established. Moreover, Doxycycline may affect bone and tooth development in growing kids. Discuss with a pediatrician and use age-appropriate antibiotics like Amoxicillin.
