Fungitop Cream is used to treat fungal skin infections effectively. Its active ingredient is Miconazole Nitrate (usually 2%), which helps relieve itching, redness, and scaling caused by fungi. Miconazole nitrate belongs to the azole/imidazole antifungal class and is manufactured by Micro Labs Ltd.
It works by blocking an enzyme required for fungal cell membranes, weakening and damaging the fungus and causing it to die. It also increases specific reactive molecules that help kill the fungal cells. Fungitop is mainly used for ringworm (tinea corporis), athlete’s foot (tinea pedis), jock itch (tinea cruris), tinea versicolor, cutaneous candidiasis, and other dry or flaky fungal skin infections.
To use, clean and dry the affected area, then apply a thin layer 2 to 3 times a day for around 2 to 4 weeks, or as recommended by the doctor. If a dose is missed, use it as soon as possible, unless it is close to the next dose. In case of overdose or excess application, rinse off and seek medical advice if irritation worsens.
Common side effects of this medicine include mild burning, stinging, redness, itching, dryness, or peeling. Seek medical help for severe rash, swelling, blisters, oozing, or allergic reactions like hives or breathing difficulties. Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, nose, or open wounds, and wash hands after use. Fungitop is generally safe in pregnancy (Category C) and breastfeeding with doctor supervision and should be used cautiously in children under 4 weeks. Interactions are minimal, but avoid combining with other topical drugs or warfarin without advice.
Store Fungitop Cream in a dry place below 30°C, away from sunlight and children. Miconazole is FDA-approved, and Fungitop is manufactured in accordance with GMP standards.
