This helps in stopping or slowing the spread of cancer cells. Cellular signaling is stopped by Sunitinib by targeting multiple receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs).These include all receptors for platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF-Rs) & vascular endothelial growth factor receptors (VEGFRs), that play a role in both tumor angiogenesis & tumor cell proliferation. The simultaneous inhibition of these targets therefore reduces tumor vascularization & triggers cancer cell apoptosis & thus results in tumor shrinkage.
