What is HyloSoft Eye Drop

HyloSoft Eye Drop is a lubricating artificial tear formulation used to relieve Dry Eye Syndrome. It contains Sodium Hyaluronate 0.1% (w/v), the salt form of the popular lubricant, Hyaluronic Acid. This product is part of the HyloSoft series, including Max, Eco, and HPF variants. It is manufactured by Neomedix Healthcare India Pvt. Ltd. in GMP-compliant facilities.

The active ingredient, Sodium Hyaluronate, belongs to the class of ophthalmic viscoelastic lubricants. It works by forming a moisture-retaining protective layer over the eye surface. This helps improve tear film stability and keeps the eyes comfortable by reducing dryness, irritation, burning, and friction during blinking. The formulation also contains Stabilized Oxychloro Complex as a preservative to maintain its sterility.

HyloSoft lubricating eye drops are thus commonly used to manage Dry Eyes caused by reduced tear production, long screen time, dust, wind, pollution, air conditioning, or other environmental triggers. It can also be used for post-operative dryness and corneal ulcers.

The usual HyloSoft 10 ml dosage is 1-2 drops in the affected eye 3-4 times daily or as directed by your ophthalmologist. If you miss a dose, apply it when you remember, unless it is almost time for the next one. If you are using other eye medicines, maintain a 10-minute gap between them to avoid dilution.

Mild blurred vision, redness or irritation can occur for a short time after use but settle on their own. Consult a healthcare provider if these side effects persist or if you notice severe eye pain, swelling, discharge, or vision changes.

Do not use HyloSoft Eye Drops if you are allergic to Sodium Hyaluronate. People with narrow-angle Glaucoma, active eye infections, or recent eye injury should consult their doctor before use.

Store the bottle below 25°C, away from direct sunlight. Keep it tightly closed and out of reach of children.

What are the benefits of taking HyloSoft Eye Drop

HyloSoft Eye Drops provide lubrication and comfort for Dry Eyes. Its benefits and uses include:

  • Long-lasting ocular hydration: It forms a smooth, lubricating layer that helps keep the eye surface moist for longer.
  • Support against daily triggers: It helps soothe eyes affected by prolonged digital screen exposure, dry indoor air, wind, dust, or pollution.
  • Post-LASIK surgery corneal hydration: HyloSoft artificial tears support corneal surface hydration after eye procedures like LASIK or Cataract surgery.
  • Dry Eye burning irritation relief: Topical Sodium Hyaluronate has proven to reduce both objective signs and subjective symptoms of Dry Eyes.

What are the side effects of HyloSoft Eye Drop

HyloSoft 0.1% (w/v) 10 ml eye drops are usually well tolerated because Sodium Hyaluronate acts locally on the eye surface. Possible side effects are:

  • Blurred vision
  • Burning sensation
  • Watery eyes
  • Redness in the eyes
  • Sensitivity to light

These symptoms are usually mild and resolve on their own. If you notice eye pain, swelling, discharge, or vision changes, consult your ophthalmologist promptly.

Safety Advice

Liver Disease

HyloSoft eye drops act locally on the ocular surface and are not significantly absorbed into the bloodstream. Because of this, dose adjustment is generally not required in people with liver disease.

Kidney Impairment

Since Hyaluronic acid-based artificial tears act locally and have minimal systemic absorption, they can be used safely in patients with kidney impairment.

Pregnant and Breastfeeding women

Information on the use of Sodium Hyaluronate ophthalmic solution during pregnancy and breastfeeding is limited. Thus, a doctor will determine whether HyloSoft is safe for use at this time.

Avoid

Avoid using HyloSoft if you are allergic to Sodium Hyaluronate, Oxychloro Complex, or any of its excipients. Avoid touching the dropper tip to any surface, and remove soft contact lenses before using the drops. Do not use if the seal is broken, the product has expired, or the liquid has become cloudy.

FAQs

Is HyloSoft useful after LASIK surgery?

Yes, HyloSoft is useful to support ocular surface hydration after LASIK or other eye procedures. It also helps relieve Dry Eyes after Cataract surgery. However, it should be used only if your eye specialist advises it.

Can HyloSoft help with eye dryness from screen time?

Yes, HyloSoft can help with dryness and irritation linked to prolonged screen use. Its active ingredient, Sodium Hyaluronate, keeps the eye surface lubricated. This helps reduce discomfort, strain, and burning that develop when blinking becomes less frequent.

Is HyloSoft good for allergies?

No, HyloSoft is not good for allergies as it is not an antihistamine. As a lubricant, it moisturizes the ocular surface but does not contain anti-inflammatory agents to treat symptoms of eye allergies.

Can HyloSoft eye drops cause blurred vision?

Yes, HyloSoft eye drops can cause temporary blurred vision right after application. This usually clears once the drop spreads over the eye surface. Avoid driving, cycling, operating machinery or other visually demanding work until your vision clears again.

How often can I use HyloSoft 10 ml eye drops?

Typically, you can use 1-2 drops of HyloSoft as needed to relieve Dry Eye symptoms in the morning, during the day and at night. However, your ophthalmologist will determine the exact dosing schedule based on the severity of dryness and your ocular health.

Can I use HyloSoft eye drops with contact lenses?

No, you should not use HyloSoft with soft contact lenses and should ideally be removed before instillation. This will help reduce residue buildup and irritation. Wait 10-15 minutes before reinserting the lenses so the drops can spread properly.

Can I use HyloSoft if I have Glaucoma?

Yes, you can use HyloSoft if you have open-angle Glaucoma under medical supervision. Avoid use if you have narrow-angle or closed-angle Glaucoma without a doctor’s approval. This is due to the potential risk of changes in intraocular (eye) pressure.

Can I use other eye drops with HyloSoft eye drop?

Yes, you can use other eye medications with HyloSoft if your doctor advises. Make sure to leave at least a 5-10 minute gap between applications. In this way, one medicine will not wash out the other, and both can work effectively.
