Siomox works by stopping bacteria's growth. It kills the bacterial enzymes DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, which are necessary for DNA replication and transcription. By blocking these enzymes, the medicine prevents bacterial cells from dividing and repairing, eventually destroying them, thus relieving infection.

Some common side effects include eye pain or irritation. These side effects are usually temporary and subside independently, but if they persist, inform your doctor. Before using Siomox eye drops, tell your doctor about any existing eye or corneal problems or allergic reactions. Also, inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.

While using Siomox eye drops, do not wear contact lenses. Instead, wear glasses until the infection clears. You can start wearing lenses again once the signs and symptoms of infection have disappeared and you have stopped using the medicine. If using other eye drops, wait at least five minutes before applying them. After applying the drops, wait a few minutes for your vision to clear before driving or operating any machinery.

• Before applying the eye drops, carefully wash your hands. Hold the dropper near to your eye without touching it. Squeeze the dropper gently, then place the medication into the lower eyelid. Wipe off any extra liquid. Close your eyes for 1 to 2 minutes.
• After taking the medication, apply pressure to the corner of the eye (close to the nose) for a minute to keep the medication from dripping. Do not blink or rub your eyes.
• Remove your contact lenses (if applicable) at least 15 minutes before using the medication. The same goes for putting them back. Don't overdose on this medication.
